Kevin And Don Respond To Being Self Loathing

Looking back at their journey from the Stonewall Democratic Club to Log Cabin Republicans, they claim it was one that was actually started by the democrats. After being told that marriage as not a priority on the agenda in 1995, they became disillusioned with the DEMS. For a decade they felt like they did not belong until they met the republicans of the Log Cabin Republican Club and discovered they too shared a dream of marriage equality. This blog is now a digital time capsule of their time as Republicans and moderated by a friend and supporter.

How Do You Solve A Problem Like Alberto Gonzales?

There are times like now, for instance, when I want to defend, but I instinctively know that morally, it would be wrong to defend a position I cannot morally support.
This is the fallout from the 2006 reauthorization of the Pariot Act. Did anyone ever read it? Under rules from the Reagan era, Senate Confirmation was required for all U.S. attorneys. The AG could appoint an interim vacancy for 120 days. After that period, the authority to keep the interim appointment went to the District Court. In 2006, Patriot Act authorized terminations and indefinite replacements with no notice. no due process. No hearings. A de-facto “Star Chamber” Proceeding. Alberto Gonzales, Harriet Myers, and Karl Rove were allegedly behind it. My soul cries out in democracy and says that parts of the Patriot Act are facist. If true, Alberto Gonzales should go ASAP and we should return to the policy the worked well beginning with Reagan.
I CANNOT even blame the Democrats on the committee for this one.
These provisions in the act were never even voted on in committee. They were added after the Senate vote in the House-Senate Conference Committee. This committee had no dems on it.
And when you look at the people who were removed, well you get a sense that a majority of them were good people on the wrong side of the partisian politics that is destroying D.C.
