Kevin And Don Respond To Being Self Loathing

Looking back at their journey from the Stonewall Democratic Club to Log Cabin Republicans, they claim it was one that was actually started by the democrats. After being told that marriage as not a priority on the agenda in 1995, they became disillusioned with the DEMS. For a decade they felt like they did not belong until they met the republicans of the Log Cabin Republican Club and discovered they too shared a dream of marriage equality. This blog is now a digital time capsule of their time as Republicans and moderated by a friend and supporter.

RINO: Jon Fleischman

RINO: Jon Fleischman
Republican in Name Only
Open Bigotry Towards Gays and Lesbians is Not a Republican Value.
Whatever Happened To The Party of Lincoln?
Blogger Jon Fleicshman of told a caucus of Log Cabin delegates that he would never support gay rights or even the recognition of the group as a Chartered Party organization at the February, 2007 California Repubican Party Convention in Sacramento.
So I guess it is time for a little education because many do not realize that Log Cabin Republicans are NOT a chartered party Organization of the California Republican Party.
Log Cabin Republicans are excluded from official recognition as a part of the party in California. Party rules state at ARTICLE III, Section 3.01 (A), that "The Committee will consider for issuance of a charter, and recognition of membership and appointment rights under these bylaws, any organization whose primary purpose is supporting and promoting the Republican principles and platforms, and will not consider organizations based on special agendas, such as: Republicans motivated by profit, Republicans for certain life-style preferences or orientations, Republicans for any personal agenda."
Now, a careful reading indicates that the rule is not totally inclusive and broadly interpreted it should exclude special agendas of, say, for example, clubs based on race, gender, and even veterans. Of course, the rule is only used to block Log Cabin's full participation at the 2 yearly conventions the California Republican party holds.
The rule is out-dated and not really talked about but when Fleischman' stated that he would NEVER support Log Cabin Republicans being a Chartered Club within the California Republican Party made me think back to the days that Barney's Beanery in West Hollywood had a sign saying "NO FAGGOTS ALLOWED" and how one day the sign did come down.
HATE is not a Republican Value and in my opinion Jon Fleischman is a Republican In Name Only.
I found Fleischman's statement to be inspiring to make me more determined than ever to eliminate the bigotry that I see in the party.
Thanks Jon for the inspiration.
Unfortunately Fleischman, was easily elected Southern California vice chairman of the Republican Party, defeating his challenger by two to one.
