Kevin And Don Respond To Being Self Loathing

Looking back at their journey from the Stonewall Democratic Club to Log Cabin Republicans, they claim it was one that was actually started by the democrats. After being told that marriage as not a priority on the agenda in 1995, they became disillusioned with the DEMS. For a decade they felt like they did not belong until they met the republicans of the Log Cabin Republican Club and discovered they too shared a dream of marriage equality. This blog is now a digital time capsule of their time as Republicans and moderated by a friend and supporter.

Welcome To My Blog

To Begin with, I am Kevin and I live in Hollywood. I live with Donnie, Zoe, and Fosse. Zoe is our little girl cat. Fosse is our little boy cat. Donnie is my high school sweetheart. We met in 1978 and before the year was out we recreated the wedding scene from West Side Story and viewed us as married at 16. It was not that much of a secret because people could tell. But they did not know how committed we were. We got jobs, save up money and went on our Honeymoon to Aruba. in fact we even missed school.
Why is this important.
Because we were not born innocent.  Nothing was ever handed to us. We were both born on the wrong side of the tracks. Any hope that our families had for us were to graduate high school. In many ways we actually raised each other from 16 years old on up. College was beyond their expectations. Obtaining a JD and Don a Master's at NYU certainly went against probability if you worried about to odds.

Driving out to California without knowing a single person and being all on our won, well it was a trip.

We are Log Cabin Republicans because we believe in personal responsibility as a religious conviction. Our families struggled to give us a better life. And they did not dispose of us because we were gay.

I am alarmed at today's politics because it is all bickering. Reform is needed. If one truly listens to Arnold Schwarzenegger, you will realize that he is a reformer. The budget is a mess and he can't solve it. Prop 13 has seen to that. But he can reform the way our state operates. Governor Schwarzenegger sees a better tomorrow. I can actually feel the future.
